Nestled near the border of Arizona and Utah, there are a wide variety of family hikes near Page, Arizona. From Horseshoe Bend's magnificent views to the Hanging Garden Trail, you are sure to find plenty to explore.

Here are a few of our favorite family hikes near Page, Arizona.

The main attraction for this trail is the hanging garden at the end and the views throughout. We thought the hanging garden was very pretty, the views were beautiful, and the hike was easy and well marked. The kids loved that they could go climbing in all directions. The first time we hiked this trail, we were hit with a sleet storm as we were hiking back to the car. While it wasn't ideal, it made for some great memories. We went back later in our trip to hike it again and explore some of the other areas. I definitely recommend this for an easy out and back trail that you and your kids will enjoy.

This was a favorite trail for our family. The trail is quite busy, but there are many different side routes you can take to escape and get a little space. The trail is less than 2 miles out-and-back. The views were spectacular and the hoodoos were something you don't get to see everywhere. The hike itself is easy and your kids will love the random areas to explore off the main path. There is an area near the end of the trail that our kids had a blast hiking over, under and around.

Beehive Trail (aka the New Wave)

Our kids loved this trail, in fact, we went back multiple times after other hikes for them to explore more. The main trail wraps around multiple waves. The waves don't have as much of the vivid color of the famous Wave Trail, but it is a good alternative if your not lucky enough to get the Wave hiking permit. Our kids had a blast scrambling, sliding and exploring the waves. If you are looking for a trail to let your kids climb and scramble, this is a great option.

This was my favorite trail we hiked. When we went to Page, Arizona, the main slot canyons were still closed due to Covid. This was a marvelous alternative. We did 6 miles of the trail, but you could continue on for further if you prefered. In fact this is the longest slot canyon in the United States. This is a very busy hike even in January. The slot canyon about 2 miles into the hike is beautiful. For the most part the trail is easy, however you do need to climb up and down a ladder. When we hiked this it was dry, however, I have heard that there can be quite a bit of water through the trail during wetter seasons, so be prepared for that.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes

If you are looking for some exercise and a lot of fun, the Coral Pink Sand Dunes are a great way to spend the day. Hiking up the dunes and sledding back down will keep you and your kids entertained for hours. But be prepared, walking up the dunes is quite the workout.

While I wouldn't really call this a hike, it was a fun stop and our kids thought the trail was interesting. The tunnel was much neater than the waterfall, but definitely worth a quick stop.

This was quite an experience. If you are up for some scrambling to and from the caves this is a great hike. If you are afraid of heights, maybe not the best option. The scramble up to the caves is a bit daunting, but the trail itself is flat and easy. Bring flashlights and your kids will have a blast exploring the back areas of the caves. If you want to see inside the caves you have to do the scramble, however if you just want to get to the area you can see them from the trail itself.

This is the main trail at Horseshoe Bend, and because of that, it was very crowded. The view was absolutely stunning. The trail is paved, but you can venture off the trail and make your own path. Be careful though, it is quite a drop at the edges. We took our family photos here with Shannon Carr and Sweetly Photography (side note - she was amazing to work with! They are still my favorite photos we've taken!). The views were perfect and the sunset was gorgeous. Definitely a must stop when in Page, Arizona.

The trailhead for this hike is not well marked, so after searching for a way down to the bottom of the canyon, we ended up making this a fun hike on our own. Since we couldn't find the trail, we hiked around the upper area of the canyon instead. We still enjoyed the hike, even though we were not on the actual trail. Even after wandering the rim of the canyon, I am still not sure how you would get down to the canyon floor. If you are up for making your own path, this is a great trail. The views from the top were still great and we had a great time.

This is a pretty hike with a lot of views. There are many areas to explore off the main path and hiking to the mine shaft was a lot of fun. The trail itself was well marked, it is a bit of a physical challenge, but well worth it, as the views toward the end were beautiful. This is not a popular hike, so it's a great way to get out of the crowds and explore in the quiet.

This was the last hike we did on our trip and it was a great way to end our trip. Majority of the hike is through a sandy wash, however toward the end you can scramble some rocks to get the best view. It was a perfect place to stop for lunch and enjoy the view and Birthday Arch. This is a moderate hike because of the sandy wash, if you scramble it is more challenging, but definitely worth it.

Page, Arizona offers some great options for family hiking. There are many different trails that will appeal to families with kids of all ages.
